| does anyone else hate that they can't make the 'new posts' go away in the secret forums? i know jerry has used them for his game to take notes or whatever, but i haven't found a way to be able to make the 'new posts' visual go away for the technical forum. it's not a big deal... but it bugs me because i think there'll be some new content... then i can't get to it AND i can't make it stop teasing me.

| hrmm...I don't have that problem...it doesn't say there is anything new anymore. Not quite sure why...maybe because I don't have permissions in his forum? | |

Yes I have that problem. Even after I click the button that says, "mark all posts read".

i don't mind when it's something you guys posted, but it's the 'secret threads' in the technical section that i cannot get to go away. i've tried using 'mark all topics read' but it won't mark the secret thread as read.... guh.

| that's strange. it marks it as read when i try to read it and it says "you suck and so do your permissions, loser"
well, that's how i read it, anyway.

| well... since i can't join in your little discussion on multi-classing where it's actually happening...
do preferred classes count when calculating xp penalties? for example - blackscale's preferred class is barbarian. say i take barbarian 1/monster 1, then level monster to level 2 - if i take monster 3 do i incur penalties? how about if i have barb 1/sorc 3? (not that i'd take sorc... but just for the point of this argument)

| Your race's preferred class does not count towards multiclass XP penalty. Just pretend like it doesn't exist. So in your case, you can take as many levels of Barbarian as you want. You could even be a monster 1/sorcerer 2/barbarian 16, just so long as monster/sorcerer don't get more than 1 level apart from each other. Once you max out monster, though, you could even add in ANOTHER class, and be, say, a Monster 3-full/Sorcerer 2/Cleric 1/Barbarian 16. | |

| Now is that true even though your monster class isn't in full effect yet? Or do you have to become a full blackscale before barbarian becomes a favored class for you? | |

| not sure, jerry would probably have to answer that. i mean, i'm lvl 1 blackscale... but if preferred class only takes effect after maxing the blackscale? i don't know. | |

| I don't think it matters, I think your preferred class is your preferred class from the moment you choose a race. | |

I was pretty darn sure that meant you got the hit dice of your class whenever you leveled up your monster race. Like, he gets a d6 whenever he levels up drow. But if he were a fighter instead of a ninja, he'd get a d10 whenever he leveled up drow. EDIT: just checked savage species and races of destiny -- neither use this method to level up monstrous characters, so disregard my comment.

| it seems like the monster class is treated just like a non-favored class until it is maxed out, according to the monster progression tables that Jerry spent soooo many hours making.
In other words, the monster class "disappears" from all calculations when maturity is reached.
So Dan is right. | |
