Novemterra Monster Race Overhaul

Just a heads up: I am currently in the process of doing an overhaul of the featured monster racial classes for the Novemterra game. Some of these changes go beyond background/aesthetic changes, and actually alter the mechanics of the races as they pertain to the game. The revised Novemterra Monster Race Compendium will be released soon and replace the original Monster Race Compendium sent out to you before. I want to make the following clear before I am mugged in a dark alley by nine or ten peeved players:

- The revisions will affect the Character Creation rules. However, if you have already created a character or are in the process of doing so, you are exempt from the revised rules and will not have to re-make.[Edit 7/1/08: This bullet no longer applies - all players have updated their characters.]


- The revisions will affect core mechanical abilities of some races. However, if you have already begun play with a character of such a race (i.e. posted in-game), you have the option of not adopting the newly revised version of your monster race and continuing to play with your older race. [Edit 7/1/08: This bullet no longer applies - all players have updated their characters.]


In the second instance, I am not condoning breaking the rules of the newly revised races, but rather to be fair to players who have already committed time and effort to creating their characters and establishing their characters' roles in-game.

Note that regardless of a player's choice to switch to the revised version of a character's race, the character will be treated aesthetically as a member of the revised race, not the old one. For example, if all elves now suddenly look like chickens, your elf character will be treated in-game accordingly as though he had always looked like a chicken, whether or not you as a player are willing to change your stats (you have the option of not doing so).


Final Note: I do not guarantee game balance in any of the revised races. However, they should for all in-game purposes not be considered weaker than their original versions.

Summer Gaming Group

For the summer, the Scars of the Planet (SotP) group will consist of Alex, Andrew, Ben, and Jack. Everyone else has been (temporarily) assigned to the Novemterran Sky (NSky) group. The summer group will continue my main campaign arc.

I am willing to accommodate one more player. If you will be available this summer and will not be going on any trips one week or longer, let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

Summer Gaming Group

Due to player schedule availability, the following summer groups have been established:

Scars of the Planet - Andrew, Alex, Ben, Jack

Novemterran Sky - Everyone Else

Permissions have been altered accordingly to allow players to post in their respective forums. The summer group (Scars of the Planet) will continue my primary campaign story arc, with Chapter 2: A Shining Pillar of Deception.

If you are not yet participating in the summer group and would be interested, and are not undertaking any summer trips that are over 1 week in length, please contact me and I will register you in my SotP summer group.



Duration of Summer Groups

These groups will remain until further notice, and may last longer than just the summer, despite being called "summer groups."

New Race Compnediums!

Miderth v.2.1 (new race: Yak Folk)
Dark Star v.3.1 (new race: Desmodu)

Other race compendiums revised to accommodate new favored class concepts, as well as universal Core-equivalent starting racial traits, for all monster races. Those will still be under revision to meet the format used in these newer compendiums (most notably, the Readme file is a lot smaller and more clear, and features the Shell-based classes available).

Gaia v.3.1 (new template class: Woodling)

Note: For the Gaia races, the "gaiatauren" and "gaiatyr" have been renamed back to Centaur and Satyr. The change in those races just never seemed to fit right, and the original races conform more with the setting.

New World Info!

I am finally done with providing map illustrations for the rich world of Novemterra. I hope they are as enjoyble to look at it as it was to make them. If you began the game before 7/16/08, I will assist you with determining from what region your character originated from (since at this point in Novemterran history, many of the races are indigenous to certain regions of a Shell). Announcement: Name Change & House Rule Elimination

Good morning folks,

Just a quick couple notes:

• Scars of the Planet - Chapter 2 Name Change: The new Chapter 2 name has been changed back to "A Shining Pillar of Deception."
  
• Gravity House Rule Elimination: The Novemterra Shell-Based Gravity Effects rule system has been eliminated (differences in gravity is sufficiently characterized by the attributes of available starting races).
  
• 'Clobbered' House Rule Elimination: This house rule has been eliminated to help streamline forum gameplay.
